The Matzo files holds thousands of works of art by 250 contemporary artists. There are 180 folders in the flat files holding two-dimensional works on paper including media such as paintings, drawings, photographs, and prints.The works are available for viewing and for sale. The terms of sale are 80% to the artist, and 20% to the Matzo files to help in continued operations. This affordable artwork helps support living artists as well as an innovative gallery space.

In addition to purchases of artwork from the files, direct donations can also help support the Matzo files continue to provide artists a venue in which to house and exhibit their work. The Matzo files operates as a program of the Artists Alliance, Inc (AAI), a tax-exempt, 501(c)(3), not-for-profit arts organization on the Lower East Side of Manhattan. AAI is dedicated to promoting discussion and awareness of the visual arts, sharing information with the public, promoting interaction with local communities, and providing forums for artists.
