Permanent Adolescence, a term appropriated from psychology and social studies, is about a new youthful physical appearance to be found in many contemporary artworks. In the last 10 years, with the birth and development of the Chelsea neighborhood as an art district, high fashion center, and housing hotspot for New York City's elite, emerging artists being shown in alternative spaces and artist-curated exhibitions have created and redefined for themselves a new and individualistic "look" which functions almost as a form of misdirection.

Artists are founding a kind of new order, where conceptual ideas and conceptually based works seem to show little or no interest with past politics and history. This new way of working is used as a strategy or tool, to differentiate themselves from the more established artists in the Chelsea set, and also as a way to create theoretical distance in their approach, priorities, and understanding of contemporary culture.

Permanent Adolescence explores the topic of a new century and the currently evolving art practices within it.
