Description:
The residencies take place in a former classroom space about 25' by 28' ft. (approximately 700 sq. ft) The room is divided into four areas, using an open plan with passage way around the perimeter and two 8' high walls intersecting in the center of the space, perpendicular to one another.

The four studios are approximately 175 sq. ft each or about 12' x 14'. Ceilings are approximately 14 ft high. Slop sink etc. is available down the hall.

This residency is open to artists with disabilities, plans will be made to accomodate any special requirements. Please contact Felicity Hogan at aai@aai-nyc.org or 212-420-9202 with any questions. Thank you for your interest in our programs.

There is a wide stairwell. Despite the fact that there are no elevators, AAI artists regularly produce sizable painting and sculptural works, and load them in and out of the building frequently for gallery shows around New York and abroad.

Note that as with all artist residencies at 107 Suffolk Street there is absolutely no living. This is work space only.

Residencies are designed to encourage active engagement with the neighborhood and to benefit artists from under represented communities and constituencies.
