L.E.S. Art Show At AAI's Project Space presented in conjunction with the second annual HOWL! FESTIVAL. Doug Blanchard, Linda Byrne, Paul Clay, Kate Finneran, Tony Gawron, Ozan Gulec, Lisa Hanson, Kylie Heidenheimer, Tine Kindermann, Chang-Jin Lee, Wayne Liu, David Mahler, Buxton Midyette, Shelly McGuinness, Mark Power, Maya Puchkoff, Flavia Souza, Sherman Sussman, Suzanne Varni, Melanie Vote A group show of 20 artists representing some of the 42 artists in AAI's LES Long Term Studio Program. The LES Long-Term Studio Program provides affordable long term art studio space for professional working artists, with a special focus on artists who come from the local community, and those from under represented communities and constituencies. The Artists Alliance / Alianza de Artistas Inc. (AAI) is a grass roots not-for-profit arts organization based in New York City's Lower East Side. It is composed of artists from a broad spectrum of national backgrounds, working in a wide variety of different media - reflecting the diversity of this vibrant and historically significant multicultural neighborhood. AAI is dedicated to promoting discussion and awareness of the visual arts, sharing information with the public, promoting interaction with local communities, and providing forums for artists. AAI seeks to raise the general level of awareness of visual issues in contemporary culture. AAI works toward promotion of the visual arts, providing a forum for artists, and furthering recognition of the vital culture within the Lower East Side and all of New York City.
