"Collage is the twentieth century's greatest innovation." -Robert
Motherwell
Kollaging Kick is a quick one week exhibit featuring
the medium of collage. Over 20 emerging artists will exhibit work that
highlights the different cultures, food, fashion, and art of the Lower
East Side.
The word collage originally came from the French word "Coller"
meaning "to paste." Today, most artists do more than paste.
Collage is a format for meshing images, objects and text exploring news
ideas to create original work or studies for original work. Building work
through collage is usually a fast and fun process for most artists even
it is not their medium. A majority of the collages being displayed were
made specifically for Kollaging Kick.
